GREY is a Ghanaian rap artist, He is the HIPLIFE general. His music is an artistic reflection of passion, energy and all the social and economic realities of his personal experiences in life. He is like an outlet or voice for the victims of some realities of life, such as, love, hate, poverty and riches.
He has always loved to be a rap star, since childhood he has been mimicking and imitating international rap stars such as PUBLIC ENEMY, RAKIM, KRS-ONE,METHOD MAN and BUSTA RHYMES just to mention a few. However, he actually discovered how well he could rap in senior high school, he joined most entertainment shows, rapping on stage with the stage name VIRUX, he was such a big name in the rap and entertainment scene among the Eastern region high schools. He developed great rap skills back in Nifa senior high school, and powered his vocal delivery with deep lyrical content; his delivery is more metaphoric and poetic in whole, something he is well noted for till date.

GREY skillfully combines brilliant Akan and English lyrics laced on captivating HIPHOP beats with influences from HIGHLIFE and other African rhythms’, creating a blend called HIPLIFE. His exploits in senior high school contributed largely to his rare talent and rise to fame as a unique rap star. He is a realist and believes in the HIPLIFE movement, he is one of the few who has stayed loyal to the movement. It was not surprising, his command and master over rap craft earned him an invitation from REGGIE ROCKSTONE, the “god father” of HIPLIFE music, a sign of recognition.
GREY’s public appeal became substantially evident when he finally joined the camp of REGGIE ROCKSTONE. He then became a member of the MOBILE BOYZ, a rap group personally formed by the “god father”
of HIPLIFE music.

The group had co rappers; NKONYA and KOCHOKO, it was this era that the HIPLIFE general adopted the new name to fame, GREY.
MOBILE BOYZ recorded a number of songs with REGGIE ROCKSTONE. The hit single, “Obia Yi Ne Mobile Phone”, it is from this HIPLIFE tune that the name MOBILE BOYZ emerged. MOBILE BOYZ became one of the giant names in the rap scene in Ghana even though the group was not officially singed. The group never released a single album and their development suffered a collapse later on. KOCHOKO was the first member to depart the group to pursue a solo career. GREY and NKONYA continued to release singles, “Wo Ne Whine”,one of the greatest HIPLIFE tunes still rocks, this song and their stage craft shot them into a nationwide fame. They performed in many parts of Ghana.

Before KOCHOKO departed the group, MOBILE BOYZ was second to PRAYE, an Afro pop group, at the NES CAFÉ AFRICAN REVELATION, this decision received mixed feelings and several disapproval from music fans in Ghana, they thought MOBILE BOYZ deserved the premiere prize. However, GREY and his group members appeared on a TV commercial for Nes café crème. The group suffered another setback with management and eventually disbanded, their development had been arrested by an internal feud. Members then decided to seek solo careers. GREY has always been thankful to the “GRAND PAPA” of HIPLIFE music for believing in his talent and giving him the great exposure in the music scene in Ghana.
GREY cannot be credited for an album nevertheless, he is a powerhouse in the rap scene in Ghana and continues to cook some dope tunes for his fans, he has some wild and thunderous stage performances as well.

He has been performing his way through in high school, becoming a member of MOBILE BOYZ and eventually a solid solo career. GREY has collaborated and FEATURED rap stars and several musicians in Ghana, he has recorded with REGGIE ROCKSTONE, TINNY, STONEBOUY, NII Of mentor fame, EDEM and 2TOFF just to mention a few.
GREY recorded “BORN TO BE A STAR” in 2009, this tune in comprehensive sense reflects passion, artistic belief and his creative spirit. Other studio works has also exposed his versatility and dynamism in music, however, his HIPHOP background remains the focus and quest. The HIPLIFE general owns a record label that manages his career, he seeks to make a lot of achievements with –ARMY MUSIC –He is the HIPLIFE general and the leader of A.M.G.
